Zuck Park

The members Erie County Environmental Coalition have put together an alternative to the timber sale that Millcreek Township plans for Zuck Park. The coalition has found a tree service that may be willing to cull the trees that are hazardous and not cut the healthy ones purely for profit. The current proposal has marked 35 trees that are hazardous and have no value and additional 35 that are hazardous and have a value. There are around 230 trees marked to be cut. There more than twice as many healthy trees to be removed just to pay for the removal of the hazardous trees. Keep in mind that half of the trees that need to be removed for safety purposes have some value and that the half that has no value are to be felled and then left to rot, so there are no removal costs for the junk. Millcreek has put out a request for proposals and the environmental coalition in partnership with Taylor's Tree service plan on submitting a very sensible proposal
